The Annual Business Meeting was held over lunch on Sunday, Oct. 19th; Janet Zimmerman presiding.
In addition to committee and local group reports, we accepted proposed changes to the MHSLA Bylaws. Mary H. tells me that the size of her hat is determined by the quantity of Bylaws changes; this set required not only the large red hat, but also the purple boa! The crux of the changes were to accommodate the merging of the former Technology and Publications committees into a Communications committee. However, as Mary pointed out, it’s important to us librarians that the committees be listed in alphabetical order, so many changes were made in order to re-number the committee listings.
Congratulations to Ellen O’Donnell, recipient of MHSLA’s Librarian of the Year award, and to Carole Gilbert and LeaAnn McGaugh, first recipients of our Lifetime Achievement awards.
At the close of the meeting, Janet turned over the gavel to incoming president Judy Barnes. Judy presented Janet with a plaque denoting her service to the Association.
